What is the difference between IPL laser facial treatment and laser skin resurfacing?

Whether CO2 or erbium, skin resurfacing lasers target the water content in the skin, and thus treat both pigmented and normal skin cells. An IPL (intense pulsed light) device is more color-specific, targeting pigmented spots and blood vessels, leaving the surrounding skin essentially intact and untreated. Does a laser facial hurt? The treatment is not painful and thus does not require any topical numbing prior to treatment. Some have compared it to a rubber band snapping against the skin.

What should I expect after an IPL laser facial treatment?

Immediately following the treatment, you may feel like you have a mild sunburn, and the skin will show diffuse patchy pink areas. This typically fades in a day or two but does not lead to any downtime. There is no pain or discomfort after treatment.

Does the ELOS Plus work on darker skin colors?

Laser treatment of dark skin was once a risky procedure. The ELOS Plus laser system has revolutionized laser skin rejuvenation by combining two types of energy, thus delivering a safer treatment. This laser has been uniquely designed to protect the skin during treatment and to be used in many darker skin types. Darker skin types require more conservative settings and more expertise to perform safely.

Other than the face, what parts of the body can be treated with IPL?

The treatment can be performed on any area of the body. The most common areas are those most exposed to the damaging effects of sunlight. Other than the face, the most popular areas are the neck, hands, chest, and shoulders.

Are there any areas that should not be treated?

IPL treatments should be avoided in hair-bearing areas of the face in men, since the treatment may also lead to unintended permanent hair reduction. In these areas, fractionated resurfacing would be a much better and safer alternative.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of laser facial (intense pulsed light) treatments depends on the area treated and the severity of sun damage. Typically, 2-4 treatments are required, although patients with more extensive pigmentation may require more treatments.

How soon should I expect results?

Most patients start to see some results after the first treatment. You will initially notice darkening of the pigment that was treated, that will begin to exfoliate after a few days. While many patients see great results after the first session, it still takes 2-4 treatments to obtain the results you desire.

Can I use a spray-on tan between treatments?

You should refrain from any tanning or self-tanner products during treatment. The lighter the skin in comparison to the color of the pigmentation, the more effective the light is at targeting the pigment. Tanning of the skin can cause unwanted side effects to occur as well.

ELOS PLUS IPL

ELOS (Electro-Optical Synergy) combines the synergy of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and Bipolar Radiofrequency energies to treat superficial, benign vascular and pigmented lesions such as Rosacea, spider veins, skin changes, and damage such as sun damage, red and brown spots.

After completing a series of approximately 4 to 6 treatments, you can expect to see gradual fading or lightening of pigmented lesions and vascular lesions. You will also see improvements and reduction in wrinkles, pore size, and fine lines.

The ELOS Plus laser system is a new kind of treatment and has revolutionized laser skin rejuvenation by combining two types of energy to deliver a safer and very effective treatment.

What is ELOS skin rejuvenation?

As we grow older, the aging effects and effects of the sun begin to negatively impact the skin. The skin starts to lose collagen, begins to wrinkle, brown spots begin to show, and the skin begins to lose firmness and volume.

ELOS skin rejuvenation is the newest skin rejuvenation treatment whereby two types of energy which are Pulsed Infrared Laser Light and Radio Frequency energy are sent into your skin and act synergistically to enhance the skin and gently eliminate or improve the appearance of blemishes such as brown spots, freckles, blood vessels, and redness.

The Radio Frequency energy also produces significant improvement in collagen production and elastin renewal which help to rejuvenate the skin, resulting in a noticeable smoothing of fine to moderate wrinkles and improvement of skin texture.

Your full neck, face, hands, or body may be treated with ELOS to improve the appearance of the neck, face, hands, or body.

Does IPL tighten skin?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is photofacial, also known as photorejuvenation. IPL penetrates down to the second layer of your skin without harming the top layer. Pigment cells in your skin absorb light energy. The light energy is then converted into heat, which destroys unwanted pigment and clears up freckles and other spots.

It is a skin rejuvenation treatment used to reverse the effect or damage of the sun on the skin, even out facial color as well as improve skin tone and texture. IPL helps to tighten the skin.

Does IPL promote collagen?

During IPL photorejuvenation treatment, high-energy light waves are used to reduce or eliminate many common effects of aging and damage from the sun on the skin. IPL also promotes the production of collagen that helps to rejuvenate the skin and improve the appearance of wrinkles, and fine lines, smooth the skin, and make the skin look younger.

How long do IPL results last?

Following an IPL treatment, you should take proper care of your skin and avoid excessive exposure to the sun. With proper skin care and sun protection, results can last for years.

Does IPL help with wrinkles?

Yes, IPL stimulates the production and growth of collagen which help to improve the texture of the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
