Candela Laser Hair Removal Miami is a non-invasive light therapy device specifically designed to eliminate unwanted hair from all parts of the body. The Candela GentleLASE Plus generates a pulse of intense concentrated light. The intense concentrated light (laser energy) is directed through a small handpiece and used on the skin to remove the hair.

The laser energy passes through the skin to the hair follicle. The energy is then absorbed by pigments in the hair and hair follicle, causing selective damage to the hair root without damaging the delicate pores and structures of the skin.

The duration of the pulses is carefully calibrated so that laser energy will be absorbed by the hair follicle without burning the surrounding skin with excess heat.

Candela is a safe, fast, gentle and effective method for hair removal. By using the gentle power of the laser, it can help to improve the appearance of your skin by removing all unwanted hair.

Some of the hair which was in the treated follicles is ejected during treatment. The remaining hair is shed over the next 2-3 weeks. It has a dynamic cooling device that helps to protect the surface of the skin. The cooling device sprays a short burst of cryogen to the skin to cool and protect the epidermis. The spray is computer calibrated to work with your skin type. This helps to protect the skin while effectively removing unwanted hair.

The laser uses a wide beam that treats many hairs at once. With each pulse, the Candela can remove dozens of hairs. It can be used to remove hair from a large area of the body such as the back, legs, arms, shoulders, and face. It can also be used to remove hair from sensitive parts of the body such as upper lips, bikini lines, nipples, and armpit. The laser can be customized according to your hair type, texture, skin color and the part of your body it is being used. It is safe for use no matter your skin type, skin tone, hair color or texture.

Depending on the area of your body that is being treated, it could take for as about 15 minutes to an hour for the treatment to be completed.

How to prepare for Candela laser hair removal

  • For about six weeks before the treatment, you should avoid plucking, electrolysis or waxing. On the day of your treatment
  • Your skin should be clean-shaven and thoroughly cleansed of any makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics or self-tanning products on the day of your treatment.
  • Apply sunblock before your treatment.
  • Do not expose the treatment area to sunlight or tanning booth light immediately before or immediately after the treatment.
  • If you have a history of herpes simplex virus, prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed before you undergo the treatment.

After the treatment

After the treatment, a cool compress or gel pack may be applied for additional comfort after your treatment. Any cases of redness or swelling should resolve in a few hours.

Multiple treatments are usually required in order to achieve a full hair removal effect. This is because hair grows in three stages which are the anagen, catagen, and the telogen stages.

The anagen is also known as the growth stage where the hair is at the thickest and darkest. Laser treatments are most effective for this stage.

The categen stage is also known as the transitional stage where the hair begins to loosen from its follicle.

The telogen is also known as the shedding stage where the hair falls out from its follicle to make room for the growth of new hair.

The hairs on your body are not always at the same stage, so you’ll need to undergo a few treatments for an average of six weeks apart.

You should avoid exposure to sunlight and also apply sunblock to the treated area. Do not scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers for a few days after the treatment.

Potential side effects

The treatment is a safe one. There are rare permanent side effects. Potential side effects may include redness, swelling, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering and laser bruise in the treated area. These side effects usually do not last more than a few days.
