What Platelet Rich Plasma(PRP) Can Be Used For:

Platelet Rich Plasma in aesthetics is used to regenerate the skin. It improves texture and discoloration. PRP has been used also in operating rooms for several decades to help with wound healing. Full results are seen 6 weeks after the treatment is done.* The most common conditions for PRP therapy include:

  • fine wrinkles around the eyes,
  • nasolabial folds,
  • wrinkles on the lips,
  • acne marks,
  • wrinkles on the forehead,
  • wrinkles on the neck,
  • bags and dark circles under the eyes
  • and loose and saggy skin.

PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is a concentration of platelet cells taken from your blood, and these platelets have growth factors that may help in the healing process of damaged skin and activate & rejuvenate cells in the body.

The growth factors, when released, induce the production of collagen and generation of new capillaries to rejuvenate the skin. Growth factors are chemicals that signal the body to initiate a healing response. By injecting PRP into one area, it stimulate and optimize your body’s ability to heal the old damaged skin.

Most patients will see a noticeable improvement in the skin texture and complexion after 3 weeks.* New collagen will be deposited and there are fewer wrinkles after the treatments. Final results occur at about 3 months.*

How Often Can I Do PRP Therapy:

It is recommended initially 2 sessions 6 weeks apart. Patients who have more damage can have 3 to 4 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart. For maintenance, 2 – 4 treatments are needed annually depending on age, extent of damage, and sun exposure. Facials can be resumed in 2 weeks.

How Platelet Rich Plasma Is Obtained:

Harvest PRP TechnologyPRP is obtained from the patient. Blood is withdrawn from a vein in the patient’s arm and the blood is placed in a centrifuge, a machine that spins at a high speed to separate the different types of blood cells.

We use the most advanced “Harvest PRP” technology. Harvest PRP delivers a concentration of autologous platelets and growth factors that is roughly 4-6 times greater than any other traditional methods. Unlike other products, it delivers a broad range of growth factors in the proper concentration and ratios to help rejuvenate skin, rebuild lost collagen and give you that youthful glow you been looking for.

How PRP Is Injected:

Platelet Rich Plasma injections are given as soon as the blood has been spun and the platelets separated. Some physicians may choose to add an “activating agent,” usually either thrombin or calcium chloride.

PRP Effectiveness:

We know from laboratory studies that PRP can help increase certain growth factors that are important in the healing process. Platelet rich plasma has been used with great success in clinical practice since the 1990’s. It was initially used to enhance wound healing in facial surgery. This skin rejuvenation technique has been used since 2004 in countries such as Japan, and European countries. Patients see an improvement in hair number and skin complexion with increased collagen deposition that is long lasting.

If You Want PRP:

PRP injections can be done in a physician’s office. The procedure takes about 30 minutes in order to withdraw the blood, spin the blood in the centrifuge, and inject the PRP into the treatment area.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy Cost:

The cost ranges depending on how many areas are injected. It can be from $400 and $800 per treatment.

Risks Of PRP:

Side effects are uncommon, but they are possible. Whenever a needle is inserted through the skin, infection can occur. The other more common side effect of PRP injections is an increase in inflammation and pain after the injection.

PRP injections are not recommended in individuals with bleeding disorders, those taking anti-coagulation medications (e.g. Coumadin), or those who have cancer, active infections, or are pregnant.
